5 Educational Activities in 1 Toy

Less Mess More Learning: A Minimalist mom must have toy!

With the Wooden Sequencing Bead Set children can review the following:

  1. Patterns
  2. Color Sorting
  3. Numbers/Counting
  4. Shapes
  5. Comprehension

Check out this cute video of all the activities combined on my Instagram REEL!

Counting: There’s a thin slit that works perfectly to hold up Flashcards. This makes it easy to review multiple subjects without getting a ton of things out (making it a total mom win!).

Tip: I personally like to turn the flashcards face down, and have my child pull a card (it’s a small surprise that makes it a little more fun for the child).

Example: Pull a card its the number “8” we count out 8 jumbo beads, then my child places them on while counting them individually.

Shapes: This sequencing activity includes multiple shapes, making it a resourceful toy to review shape names, and sorting.

Patterns: This is the activity it was created for, learning patterns and putting them in the correct sequence. Pattern activities are imperative for children to review. This is because they help them learn how to make logical connections, and utilize reasoning skills. Patterns have a key role in helping young minds develop the necessary skills to understand how to make predictions. This is because they help them recognize patterns in other elements of life and learning.

Tip: Something I love about this is they’re a few beads that are the same shape and color, but there’s a small detail that makes them different. This helps children pay greater attention to detail. It’s details like this that improves critical thinking skills for young children.

Color Sorting: This toy includes a large variety of colored beads making it perfect to serve as a color sorting activity.

Tip: This is perfect for helping develop hand eye coordination, because they have to thread the beads onto the sticks. Making it a color sorting lesson that duals as a hand eye coordination activity.

Comprehension: If you feel confident that your child is up for a challenge, and you’d like to practice comprehension lessons this section is for you! You can call out commands and see if your child is able to accomplish the task correctly.

Tip: Give multiple commands to have your child practice memory skills.

Example: Based on age groups for ideas

Easy/Younger: You say, “Put 2 yellow ones on this stick”.

Medium/Young: You say, “Grab four purple circles and put them on this stick”.

Hard/Older: You say, “Put two squares, and three circles on this stick”.

Hard/Old: You say, “Grab four purple circles and three yellow squares, then put them on this stick” – Notice the additional commands.
